Koto area of Shiga Prefecture in Japan is famous for producing of high-quality hemp-ramie fabric called OMI-JOFU, often used as summer kimono. SHIGA-KEN HEMP-RAMIE TEXTILE INDUSTRIAL ASSOCIATION was founded in 1957 to promote OMIJOFU, has been active to inherit and preserve its tradition.
